David Boucher has been a professional firefighter for 20 years and is currently an Acting Captain with the Central York Fire Service. He has spent years developing his skills not only as a CISM instructor, but as a leader. Starting his career with the Canadian Forces in the combat arms, his drive and skills led him to the Special Forces, sending him on numerous overseas tours.
Following this, David pursued a career in firefighting, first working with the Canadian Forces and then with Central York Fire Services. He quickly brought his special set of skills and leadership abilities to good use there, becoming a Shift Training Instructor for both rope rescue and ice water rescue, as well as a peer fitness trainer. Steve Horner is a retired police officer with 32 years of experience in a variety of assignments. He spent his full career with York Regional Police. He joined the York Region CISM Team in 1997 and remains a member to this day.
In retirement, Steve is continuing his work in the Peer Support field by delivering training under the ICISF model, and Living Works Suicide Intervention training.
Steve also consults with organizations who seek to start peer support or critical incident stress management programs. Steve has recently joined the team at Keel Mind and will be pleased to discuss their free peer support tool with you. Read more about Steve here…
